James C. Riewerts ’51

EDUCATION & CAREER

• Pledged SAE Cal Beta in 1951 and graduated from Cal in 1955
• Spent two years in the Pacific as a Navy supply officer on a cargo ship
• Started career as an analyst at Schwabacher & Co
• Looking for a more profitable endeavor, became an account executive and spent the next 45 years as a broker in Oakland, CA
• Retired from Morgan Stanley in 2003
• Still follows the stock market and manages several trusts
• Serves as an arbitrator for FINRA deciding cases for persons filing claims against the securities industry
• Chairman of the Board of California Nevada Methodist Homes, manager of continuing care retirement homes in Oakland and Pacific Grove, CA

PERSONAL

• Married college sweetheart Kay Russell Riewerts on 2/15/55
• Kay and Jim have three daughters, two of whom are Cal grads, and seven grandchildren
• Enjoys spending time at second home in Twain Harte, CA and occasionally playing golf at Orinda CC
• “It’s been a great life and it all started at SAE!”
