- Attended Awalt High School in Los Altos; Class of 64
- Participated in Swimming and Water Polo four years
- All American in Water Polo junior and senior years
- Father, Joe, a member of SAE Cal Zeta at San Jose State
Education and SAE Cal Beta
- SAE Cal Beta Pledge class spring of 1965
- Earned B.S. Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in 1969
- Earned M.B.A. from the University of Santa Clara in 1973
Athletic Achievements
- Competed four years (65-68) on Cal Swimming and Water Polo teams
- All American in Water Polo sophomore through senior years
- Athlete of the Year (all UC campuses) in 1969
- Member Pan American Games water polo teams in 1967 (gold medal) and 1971 (gold medal)
- Member Olympic Games water polo teams 1968 Mexico City (5th place) and 1972 Munich (bronze medal)
- Inducted into the US Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1984
- Inducted into the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987
Professional Career
- Worked 45 years for five different manufacturing companies including most recently:
- President, Custom Optics Division of JDS Uniphase, manufacturer of custom thin film optics
- President of Sola Optical USA, manufacturer of ophthalmic eyewear lenses
- Currently, mostly retired, but working select management consulting engagements as a senior partner with Aligned Growth Partners
Personal
- Resides in Santa Rosa CA for 34 years
- Married 45 years to wife Michele (Cal class of 69)
- Son Jeff (Cal graduate class of 1993) and daughter Linsey (University of Colorado 1996). Four grandchildren
- Outdoor activities include golf, skiing, fly fishing, duck hunting
